Situated in our Hampshire office, Karen joined Bell Cornwell in 2022 as a Senior Associate. She has a strong track record of delivering successful outcomes for a wide range of development projects. Karen works closely with the Partners to provide leadership within the Hampshire office as well as mentorship across the wider practice.
Expertise
Karen’s eclectic range of industry experience has supplied her with a thorough insight into the commercial considerations surrounding development. With a keen focus on strategy, she is experienced at promoting sites through the plan-making process and has delivered approvals for residential, commercial and large-scale educational proposals. Karen provides the complete range of planning services, from advising on development potential through to representing clients at appeal.
Experience
Prior to consultancy work, Karen worked as the Minerals & Waste lead for the South Downs National Park Authority and within the major projects team at Horsham District Council where she was responsible for the delivery of strategically allocated sites. She started her career with Brighton & Hove City Council but since 2016 has worked in the private sector providing advice across various disciplines within planning.
Education
Karen studied Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Westminster and graduated with a Masters (with merit) in 2008. This was following a previous Masters with the Open University and a degree with the University of Sussex. She has been a fully chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 2012.
