ApplicationsProject Overview
The site’s location within the countryside near to the River Blackwater meant that careful consideration of the potential impacts from flooding and character of the area needed to be made. Bell Cornwell was able to work proactively with Hart District Council throughout the project and co-ordinate discussion with the Environment Agency to ensure that the project could be realised.
In granting planning permission, the Council recognised the significant benefit to the business, which to date has operated without any on-site accommodation for guests. The well-conceived design, which reflects the character of the site and existing buildings, also assisted in allowing the Council to approve a not unsubstantial building in the countryside with little amendment.
A further consent was also achieved to convert and extend an existing barn to provide a breakfast bar and new offices for the business.
