Bell Cornwell alongside Cielo Realty Ltd and its architects has successfully obtained planning permission for a well-designed development to include three buildings of 30, 33 and 36 apartments as well as commercial and retail spaces on the ground level and an underground car park.
Cleethorpes is on the south bank of the Humber Estuary in the north-eastern corner of Lincolnshire and forms the eastern section of the Grimsby conurbation. The site itself relates to vacant land associated with the former Clifton Bingo hall and is in a strategic location immediately adjacent to Cleethorpes railway station. It’s a short walk from the main shopping area, close to the promenade, pier and seaside activities.
The principle for a high-density residential-led development was initially granted by the Local Planning Authority in the form of a Local Development Order (LDO) and our application formed the reserved matters, which built upon the approved parameters to provide a catalyst for regeneration and meet the housing needs of the local area.
Redevelopment of this site will be a transformational project that provides a viable mix of long term economic and community benefits. By providing resources and amenities for both locals and tourists, it will help regenerate the seafront and provide a new gateway entrance to the town.
As a result of the sensitivities of the site and its prominent location on the seafront nestled amongst a number of heritage assets, pre-application discussions were held with the Council on a number of occasions which informed the design stages of the scheme. This was followed by a public consultation to present the proposals to the local community.
