Project Overview

Bell Cornwell have helped secure planning permission for seven residential dwellings in Sherborne St John Conservation Area.

We produced a Heritage Statement to accompany the application and represented the client, a local housebuilder, at the planning committee to overturn the Officer’s recommendation for refusal. The proposal was for seven residential dwellings, comprising a mixture of two, three and four-bed properties with associated landscaping and access arrangements. The site was a former allotment plot in the village; however, it had not been used for allotment purposes for many years.

The application had a mixture of consultee responses with strong support from the Parish Council and Local Councillor, but objections from the Landscape Officer, Tree Officer and Conservation Officer.

Bell Cornwell put forward a compelling case to the Committee to help overturn the recommendation for refusal; focusing on the strong local support of the proposal and the subjective nature of the recommended reasons for refusal.
