ApplicationsProject Overview
Planning permission was successfully achieved for this small 0.3ha site located at the end of a narrow country lane near to, but outside, the settlement of Newnham in Hampshire.
The site, which had previously been occupied by a local business, became available for redevelopment after it became vacant.
Bell Cornwell was able to demonstrate that the site and buildings were no longer suitable for employment purposes and that a scheme of residential development would represent the most sustainable option for its continued viable use.
After lengthy dialogue with the local planning authority and an application, which coincided with the adoption of a new Local Plan (having been submitted under the old plan), it was agreed that the principle of development was acceptable and that the design was in keeping with the rural character of the surrounding area.
The application was approved by unanimous decision at Planning Committee.
